Pennsylvania continues its support of quality early childhood education encouraged by Governor Rendell through a number of new initiatives.
The Office of Child Development has been created as a partnership of Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare and Department of Education allowing a more concise focus on issues in Early Care and Education.
Results of this focus have been the new Keystone STARS program for quality child care, continued supportive funding for early education in the form of Accountability Block Grants, Head Start Supplemental Assistance programs, and Partnership for Quality Pre-Kindergarten Program, increased funding for T.E.A.C.H. (Together Education And Compensation Helps), and creation of the Early Learning Keys to Quality initiative.
Fayette County is pleased to be a part of these initiatives with the Fayette County Early Care and Education Committee. It is also excited by the support of Fayette County Child Care Providers for the Keystone STARS program for Quality Child Care.
